Non-Wing Shootout
Wow what a weekend, Friday started off with 42 cars checking in and guys representing MI, IL, TN, OK, MO along with the guys from IN. We would like to say thank you to those guys that did travel from out of state and hope to see them come back.
Friday was rain delayed, and thanks to Jim and the whole crew along with the guys that brought out their truck to help get the track ran back in so that we were able to go racing, yes it was a long night, but I think everyone will agree it was well worth it.
The first set of heats Nate started in the 5th heat on the outside front row and won, second set of heats total invert, again 5th heat this time inside the 4th row and finished 5th. The A-Mains for the night are 30 laps and are based on points, so that means Nate starts in the 1st A-Main inside the 3rd row. Nate was running 4th or 5th at the time when the clip on the throttle cable broke, done for the night. He finished 17th.
Saturday: Nate is 29th in points. Off to the Semi, only the top 6 transfer to the A. The semis are lined up by points, he lines up on the outside of row 6 for 30 laps and wins. That locks him into the A-Main starting inside the 4th row for 40 laps with 19 other drivers for $5000 to win.
In the A-Main there was only 1 caution, I can’t tell you exactly what lap it was but Nate took the lead and never looked back, taking the checker flag and collecting the $5000 pay day. Honestly, it was an AWESOME weekend! That just goes to show you that you never give up.
Nate’s next race will be the Outlaw Nationals at US 24 Speedway on Thursday, July 3rd, Friday, July 4th, and Saturday, July 5th.
